All players in all formats of the game (including non-contact), will be required to register themselves annually to play rugby for RFU member clubs.
Players will register using their Game Management System (GMS) account and clubs will approve or deny their registration. This is in accordance with RFU Regulation 13 and 14.
In previous seasons, player registration has been done by clubs on behalf of their players.
All players need to be ‘Club Registered’.
Players who have never been registered with a club in England can register via their GMS account once they have created one. The Club Registrar will then accept the registration and the player will be eligible to play for this club.
If a player is currently registered with a different club than the one they wish to play for in the upcoming season, the Club Registrar can request the transfer of the player.
If the transfer request is approved by the player’s current club the player will transfer to the new club.
Being ‘Club Registered’ allows individuals to play at Men’s Level 9 and below and Women’s Level 5 and below.
Players in Men’s Level 1 to 8 and Women’s Level 1 to 4 will need their registration to be uplifted to ‘RFU Registration’.
The type of RFU Registration a player needs depends on the competition and leagues that their club competes in.
Club Registrars will uplift players for ‘RFU Registration’ which will then be sent to the RFU for approval. Based on the league, players may need to attach, review or sign documents to support their registration.
Players aged 17 who are registered to play age grade rugby are not automatically eligible for adult rugby and must complete the Adult Player Registration process.
RFU Regulation 15.6.1 states that a player can play adult contact and non-contact rugby, or train with other adults in contact and non-contact rugby, when they reach their 17th birthday provided:
To play for Falmouth Rugby Football Club you will need ultimately need to be a member.

Rugby ensures that every player is able to enjoy rugby in a safe environment where they can develop their personal and social skills as well as a wide array of transferable multi-sports skills. This results in their holistic development as well as their lifelong involvement in rugby and other sports. Age Grade Rugby is the game for all players aged 6 – 18 in clubs, schools, colleges and within the representative pathway and it incorporates the rules of play, regulation, competition formats and the structure of the season. It is based on the principles of player centred, development driven and competition supported with the wants and needs of young people at its heart. The format at various ages ensures that young players play the right rugby at the right time. These formats are supported by the regulations of the Age Grade game and have been developed by scientific research and studies on player development in sport. The principle behind the Rules of Play is to provide a playing format with building blocks to the 15-a-side game that allows players time to get to grips with the basics of running and catching the ball before contact and specialism is gradually introduced – which positively impacts on player safety. The Under 19 Law Variations remain at the scrum and the phased line out introduction starts at Under 14. The rules ensure there is one consistent game format at each age group in clubs and schools.
Please click here for a simplified guide to the rule and the player progression.
The clearest message from young players is that they want to play alongside their friends as part of the team. Players, parents and coaches also tell us that being equitable and inclusive with all players is important to them. That’s why from September 2019 the half game rule comes into regulation in the Age Grade game in Age Grade clubs, schools and colleges. The rule ensures that everyone in the match day squad gets to play at least half the game time available. The half game rule is being introduced following voluntarily implementation in the 2018/19 season and a trial in local club and school competitions in England. If you are interested in viewing the rules for your child’s age group, please click on the link below and select the correct age group under Regulation 15.

Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what makes the game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create. They define the game and define England Rugby.

All should operate within an accepted ethical framework and demonstrate exemplary behaviour to both safeguard children and protect all personnel from allegations of abuse or poor practice. If anyone has any concerns regarding safeguarding within the club, please contact our Safeguarding Officer using the details provided at the foot of this page.
