RAPTORS MIXED TOUCH RUGBY

Touch Rugby or TOUCH, as it is known, is a minimal contact sport that is played worldwide by men, women, and children of all ages. The game emphasizes running agility and ball-handling skills such as passing and catching. Looking something similar to Rugby, without the tackling, scrumming, kicking, and the like, the aim of the game is to score tries. Played on a flat surface, half the size of a conventional sports field, Touch rugby is “The Game taking Cornwall by Storm”. The official governing body of the sport is the Federation of International TOUCH, and in England the England Touch Association.

Falmouth Rugby Football Club are always looking for new Male & Female players aged 14+ of all standards to join our special club at the heart of community.

With a Mixed Touch Squad made of male and female players playing in the Cornish Touch Series locally and opportunities to play in both national events and to represent Cornwall. This version of non-contact rugby has a place for everyone of all ages (14-99).

If it is just a place to train, rehabilitate or make new friends, the Falmouth Raptors Touch Team look forward to welcoming you into their family..

The Raptors play in the
Cornish Touch Series League

No we suggest trying for 3/4 weeks to see if The Falmouth Rugby Family is for you.

In order to play in matches you will be required to be a Club Member and Registered with the RFU GMS (see toggles below for more info).

All players in all formats of the game (including non-contact), will be required to register themselves annually to play rugby for RFU member clubs.

Players will register using their Game Management System (GMS) account and clubs will approve or deny their registration. This is in accordance with RFU Regulation 13 and 14

In previous seasons, player registration has been done by clubs on behalf of their players.

Club Registration

All players need to be ‘Club Registered’.

Players who have never been registered with a club in England can register via their GMS account once they have created one. The Club Registrar will then accept the registration and the player will be eligible to play for this club.

If a player is currently registered with a different club than the one they wish to play for in the upcoming season, the Club Registrar can request the transfer of the player.

If the transfer request is approved by the player’s current club the player will transfer to the new club.

Being ‘Club Registered’ allows individuals to play at Men’s Level 9 and below and Women’s Level 5 and below.

Players in Men’s Level 1 to 8 and Women’s Level 1 to 4 will need their registration to be uplifted to ‘RFU Registration’.

RFU Registration

The type of RFU Registration a player needs depends on the competition and leagues that their club competes in.

Club Registrars will uplift players for ‘RFU Registration’ which will then be sent to the RFU for approval. Based on the league, players may need to attach, review or sign documents to support their registration.

Playing Adult Rugby

Players aged 17 who are registered to play age grade rugby are not automatically eligible for adult rugby and must complete the Adult Player Registration process.

RFU Regulation 15.6.1 states that a player can play adult contact and non-contact rugby, or train with other adults in contact and non-contact rugby, when they reach their 17th birthday provided:

  • They have been assessed as capable of playing with adults,
  • The RFU Playing Adult Rugby Form has been completed and signed,
  • The player does not train or play in the front row of the contested scrum. Once a player has reached the age of 18, they can play in any position.

To play for Falmouth Rugby Football Club you will need ultimately need to be a member.

Players can join Falmouth rugby Football Club at anytime.

All members will require to have all players need to be ‘Club Registered’ on the RFU GMS system (please see above toggle for more info).

WE ARE A FAMILY

“The success of sport, in terms of helping people achieve their potential, making the most of existing talent, and attracting new people to sport relies on putting people – their safety, wellbeing and welfare – at the centre of what sport does.” We are one Falmouth Rugby Family, and that extends to our opposition. We treat others how we would like to be treated.

MENTAL FITNESS

There’s two areas that we like to think about here at the Falmouth Raptors.

First of all, mental competence is required to be a great rugby player either as a player or as a coach.

Those are things like memory decision-making and rugby IQ understanding the game.

The other area and perhaps the more important part is the application of those competencies ‘Under Pressure.’

Here at the Falmouth Raptors, mental Fitness is the ability to make the right decision at the right time under pressure and the fitness is the way in which you prepare the mind to do that and the mind is like any other part of your body like a muscle.

The more you work it, the better it becomes.

FRIENDSHIP

80% of new members join the Falmouth Raptors not knowing anyone!

We’ll place you with similar players and abilities. Join as an individual, leave with friends for life.

We also have awesome socials.

RESPECT

Mutual respect forms the basis of our sport.

We hold in high esteem our sport, its values and traditions and earn the respect of others in the way we behave.

We respect our match officials and accept their decisions.

We respect opposition players and supporters.

We value our coaches and those who run our clubs.

We treat all with consideration.

ENJOYMENT

Enjoyment is the reason we play and support touch rugby.

We encourage players to enjoy training and playing.

We use our sport to adopt a healthy lifestyle and build life skills.

We safeguard our players and help them have fun.

We enjoy being part of a team and part of the Falmouth Rugby Family.

"We are all equals at The Falmouth Raptors."

RAPTORS TOUCH COACHING TEAM

Affiliations with England Touch and the Federation of International Touch.

A coach is a very important person in the development process of touch rugby. Here at the Falmouth Raptors we ensure that training sessions are friendly, fun and that people of any age or gender feel welcome to attend.

A ball. Your mates. A game. Your team. A competition. Maybe a trophy or two. Work hard. Develop skills. Get selected. Pick up a whistle. Make a difference. This is Falmouth Touch Rugby. Good times in sport for all.
