Truro & Falmouth Colts Team Up for Rugby Success

In an exciting development for local rugby, Truro and Falmouth Rugby Club’s have joined forces this season to provide their talented 16-17 year-old players (Colts) with valuable time on the field. This collaboration aims to nurture the next generation of rugby stars in the region.

Coach Phill Bostock (Truro RFC) shared his enthusiasm for the squad, stating, โ€œThereโ€™s some real talent in this group.โ€ His words ring true after the teamโ€™s impressive performance last week, where they triumphed over Camborne in a friendly match with a score of 22-14 on Truroโ€™s St. Clements Hill pitch.

This week marks a pivotal moment as the Tru/Fal colts prepare to take on Camborne once more, this time in their first league game at The Recreation Ground. The excitement surrounding the match is palpable, especially considering the historical significance of the event. Camborne RFC took to social media to highlight this momentous occasion: โ€œI think it’s really important to acknowledge that this is the first time in some years where a Falmouth Rugby kit has been pulled over the heads of a colts team. Itโ€™s heartening to see your stripes worn again in this age group.โ€

As the match unfolded, the Tru/Fal colts showcased their determination and skill with some great handling, delivering a gripping performance that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. In a nail-biting finish, they managed to overcome a bulkier pack and secure a hard-fought victory against Camborne Colts, with the final score settling at 17-10.

This successful start to the season sets a positive tone for the team as they look ahead to their next challenge. The Tru/Fal colts will be competing in the National Cup fixture against Ivybridge on Sunday, 22nd September, with kickoff scheduled for 11:00 AM at Truro RFC. As the season progresses, the local rugby community eagerly anticipates what this talented squad will achieve together. Falmouth Rugby Club would like to thank the Truro coaches as well as the Falmouth Youth Academy and Pete Collete for their tireless efforts to ensure rugby for one and all.
